While we were working on the precision carbine bolt gun we threw a few ideas back and forth among the team as to what would be an appropriate optic. With all the new products out there from many different companies we had no shortage of options. In the end the decision was up to Dane and he selected the US Optics SN-3 ERGO 1.8-10x37mm Slim Line.
The 1.8-10x magnification range is practical for the goals we had in mind for the rifle. The lower magnification range increased field of view and allows for quick snap shots. Dialing it up to 10x offers ample magnification for long range precision shots. During a recent night shoot we were impressed by the light gathering ability of the relatively small 37mm objective. Well after the sun had set we were still able to see our steel targets at 400 and 500 yards.
The sleek profile and compact design made it a perfect fit for the short barreled bolt gun. The Slim Line model was designed with DMR/SPR style rifles in mind. During testing I really liked the forgiving eye box and fine aiming point of the RDP MOA reticle. The Slim Line contains all the features we have become accustom to like the EREK elevation knob, internal anti cant device and digital push button illumination control. The SN-3 ERGO 1.8-10x37mm Slim Line is a excellent choice and compliments the rifle nicely. I also feel it would make a great optic for hunting rifles because of its attributes.
